The Snake Boy: Unbelievable Encounter between 2 Year Old Indian Boy and a Cobra

In a jaw-dropping incident that has stunned both locals and medical professionals, a 2-year-old boy in Bihar, India survived a potentially deadly encounter by biting a venomous cobra to death.

What Happened?

The child, Govinda Kumar, was playing near his home in Bankatwa village when a three-foot-long cobra approached and wrapped itself around his hand. According to his grandmother, Mateshwari Devi, the toddler didn’t scream or run — instead, he fought back in a way no one could have imagined. “He grabbed the cobra and bit its head,” Devi told local media. “We saw the snake coiled around his hand, and he had the snake’s head in his mouth. We immediately separated them.”

Critical Condition & Medical Response

Moments later, young Govinda lost consciousness, likely due to venom exposure through his mouth. He was rushed to a nearby health center and then transferred to the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) in Bettiah for emergency care. Dr. Saurab Kumar, a pediatrician at GMCH, called it a “highly unusual case”, noting that: “His face and mouth were swollen, which indicated a reaction to the venom. Thankfully, the venom didn’t enter his bloodstream, which could have been fatal.” Govinda received anti-allergy treatment and was monitored for 48 hours. After showing no signs of further complications, he was safely discharged. The snake, however, died instantly from the trauma caused by the child’s bite.

Why This Case Is So Rare!

Snakebite cases spike during India’s monsoon season, but doctors say this is the first time a child has survived by biting back at a venomous snake. Cobra venom is typically lethal when injected into the bloodstream, but in this case, the venom entered through the digestive system, allowing for effective treatment. Govinda is now recovering at home, hailed as a miracle survivor and a symbol of resilience in his village.
