“Guanyin (traditional Chinese: 觀音; simplified Chinese: 观音; pinyin: Guānyīn) is a Bodhisattva associated with compassion. Guanyin is short for Guanshiyin, which means “[The One Who] Perceives the Sounds of the World. There are several pilgrimage centers for Guanyin in East Asia. Putuoshan is the main pilgrimage site in China. She was first given the appellation “Goddess of Mercy” or “Mercy Goddess” by Jesuit missionaries in China.” (Source: Wikipedia).
Kwan Yin is an epitome of compassion. I first came across Kwan Yin when I was a Jehovah’s Witness but the Jehovah’s Witnesses demonized Kwan Yin. When I finally left Jehovah’s Witness on my own volition I began to explore Eastern Spirituality and Spirituality in its entirety. Then I came to realize that Kwan Yin is indeed a Goddess of Compassion and an Emissary of Light. She represents compassion in all facets. Kwan Yin is also similar to the Buddha. You can say Kwan Yin is a female manifestation of the Buddha but they are one.
On my personal experience, I have had epiphanies of Kwan Yin. I see Kwan Yin (also Guan Yin) as my Celestial Mother. Now, Guan Yin is a Friend, Healer, Helper, Benevolent Spirit Guide and Ascended Master. She embodies Compassion in its truest form. Kwan Yin is associated with the Lotus flower. If you have read about the Lotus flower, you will understand deeper about the Lotus flower.
