What do you do when you’ve got no energy left?

Living in this 3D is WORK!!! The density and lowness of this Earth with the lower consciousness is enough to drain our energy and knock us down. The bitter truth is that we cannot always be in a higher vibrations because we live in a lower realm!!! (though it is disappointing to see how many so-called law of attraction experts have been misleading people with a peachy-keen theory of the law of attraction. But I wish it was so. Remember the old saying that if wishes were horse even beggars would ride!! We are like “phone” we need constant charging to be alive and active–if we are to experience a positive life momentum (better reality).

In my previous post, I talked about positive affirmations to help us raise our vibrations and reprogram our subconscious mind. Today, I will share with us what to do when we ave no energy left. This post I am sharing with you today is from Abby Wynne. Abby Wynne is among the spiritual teachers whom I consider to be authentic. I have proof of what I am talking about; I have been following Abby Wynne blog posts for 5 years. And I have also worked with Abby Wynne in 2018 for a healing session.

Without further ado, here is the post from Abby Wynne.

What do you do when you’ve got no energy left?

What do you do when you’ve got no energy left? When you really want to believe that it’s going to be over soon, but deep down inside you know it won’t be?

Play jazz. Loud.

Dance.

Go for a walk.

Paint a picture.

Meet a friend, actually meet them, face to face, for a catch up. A proper one, where you talk about real things, not just roads and weather.

Listen to a podcast about a poem that you never understood.

Look your dog in the eye and forgive him for everything.

Hold your children tight and kiss them all over their faces.

Buy takeaway for dinner. More than once.

Drink wine.

Laugh.

Watch shitty TV. But not the news

Stretch.

Don’t make yourself feel guilty for not doing the thing you said you were going to do.

Don’t talk to your family if you don’t feel like it or don’t want to.

Get in your car and drive somewhere beautiful.

Sing.

Spend an hour looking at a flower.

Plant some seeds.

Don’t try to make them understand.

Buy a book about something that you’ve always wanted to learn. And maybe you will read it.

Close your eyes and imagine yourself surrounded by angels, then open your heart to them and feel them there, really, really feel them, and know you are not alone.

Hold a crystal in your hand and give it all the tension you’re carrying.

Drink hot chocolate with cream and marshmallows.

Cry.

Play computer games.

Scream at God and throw stones.

Have a hot bath.

Book a massage and turn up and pay attention to their hands on your body then give them a big tip if they were good.

Get your nails done.

Try a hair treatment.

Get Reiki.

Drink tea.

Breathe.

All of these things you can do.

So go do them, or others similar.

But above all, don’t forget to breathe.

Then…..

pull yourself into yourself,

draw yourself down and deeply into your body,

that body that’s working so hard for you, yes that one, the one that you think you dislike most of the time. It’s waiting for your love. Give it some. It will thank you for it.

Remember who you are.

Shine outwards, shine your light. Be yourself completely.

Don’t apologise for that.

Don’t hide yourself any more.

We need you now, it’s time.

You have waited many lifetimes for this moment.

And now it’s here.

Say out loud:

I claim my space in the world

I am worthy

I forgive myself completely

I give myself permission to shine

And then do it.

Become the lighthouse.

Grow taller.

Expand outwards

Take up that space that is your birthright.

Root rocky foundations deep into Earth,

stretch arms out wide and touch the sky,

touch other planets,

touch yourself,

your heart.

Don’t worry about being disliked. You already are.

Don’t worry about being liked, you already are.

You will never please all of them, so stop trying to.

And you will find,

over a few days,

your energy levels will increase,

because you have come home to yourself.

Nobody can send you away,

except for you, of course.

So from this day forward promise yourself,

you will never, EVER, do that to yourself again.

And as the lighthouse, you are a beacon in the dark.

You shine.

Light House: Karl Shakur N

This is what you were made for and you know it.

Turn on and shine on. Now.

And know your light reaches others who shine alongside you,

and they shine all the brighter because you shine with them.

And you shine brighter because of them.

Together we amplify.

On my own, I have found this post from Abby Wynne to be empowering, practical, helpful and inspiring; hence I decided to share. Yes, I have the permission from Abby Wynne to publish this blog post on my blog.

Water! (Mni Wiconi)

The entire world is carried by Water. More than 50% of the world is covered by Water. Water is a very powerful element; hence the Chinese say that the most powerful thing on Earth is water because it is soft, fluid and able to penetrate anything. It even wears away rock. Apart from my experience with the rain; spending Spending time in nature especially in surroundings as seen in the picture below is an ample way of raising our vibration and stepping into more positive life momentum. I can assure you that the water has a very higher consciousness and vibration.

Water is very mysterious: just look how magical the water is; soft yet powerful. Can penetrate any place. I do go for some healing bath in the river. It is always refreshing. There was a day I went to the river. It was very lonely and quiet; I felt an usual peace and joy within me. In fact, I LOATHED going back home that day. Bathing in the river that day was actually extraordinarily refreshing, heartwarming, blissful and rejuvenating.

So as I was saying… there is something I have come to realize about Water. Being one who is very connected to the Water world; I intuitively began to feel a deeper connection with the rain; so whenever I am in the rain I don’t shiver with cold. Rather, I smile to the rain and I embrace the rain, the wetness and I let it drench me wholly: nourishing my body, mind and spirit. It is really refreshing and rejuvenating. As I type this blog I’m lying in my bed and it’s raining heavily and I can hear the thunder roaring. It is such a beautiful day.

Another thing I have found out for myself is that: if you resist the rain with the feeling of “Arrhh…it is cold. I am feeling cold.” You become cold. But if you embrace the rain with joy, gratitude, mindfulness, levity and love–you feel warmth, blessed, protected, healed and rejuvenated.

Without further ado, here is the video of Water presented by the Dine Navajo, Woman Stand Shining: Pat McCabe. To me, Dine Navajo (Pat McCabe) is a Goddess on her own right and a Woman of Substance.

Not Just About Light And Love! Let Us Talk About Darkness!

“It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the season of Light, it was the season of Darkness…” Charles Dickens, A Tale of Two Cities

When discussing with people especially in the Spiritual Communities; we hear words such as sending you Light and Love, Namaste, etc. I want to ask you a question: do you believe or aware that dark energies/negative energies can be sent to someone? Do you even believe that there are things such as spells, witchcraft activities, hexes, ancestral negative contract, foundational forces, jinxes, enchantment, psychic attacks….? That is why I am addressing this issue in this blog post. Because it is not just about Light and Love: Let Us also talk about Darkness!

Unfortunately, many people in the path of spirituality and some spiritual teachers just present or paint Life here on earth as a peachy-keen-thing. They present it as one-way thing. But it is not always so….once you have began experiencing spiritual awakening and embark on a spiritual journey you will discover a lot. When I was a Jehovah’s Witness we were told that such things do not exist. But deep inside me I knew that they existed!! No, it is not superstitious belief!

This what Laibl Wolf said: “The world that our eyes see and other senses perceived is an elaborate façade, behind which lies the spiritual strings that hold the world of matter and energy intact.” Zoroaster also shared his view on it. “There is one God, and a continuous struggle between the forces of light and darkness.” It may sound crazy; BUT….I cannot help but tell you the TRUTH. There are always Greater Invisible Energies at play in determining the outcome of our lives. These Greater Invisible Energies can be those of Light Realms (Angels, Spirit Guides of Light and Love) or those of Dark Realms (Negative Entities, Demons, etc) just as Zoroaster has said it well.

To quote Dr. John Hagelin: “When we look around us, even at our own bodies, what we see is the tip of the iceberg.” And the Dine Navajo Pat McCabe said it too that, “there are so much magic and mystery all around us if we have the eyes to see it…” Even the Bible also mentioned a wrestling we have against the wicked spirit forces in the heavenly places.

I want to share an experience from Kathy J. Forti (her own personal experience) “In the last few weeks, I have encountered several highly intuitive healers all tell me that they feel they are under some kind of psychic attack from something or someone trying to prevent the Light work they are doing. No, they’re probably not imagining it, which is why I think this is an important issue.

While the entire Cosmos is being flooded with increased radiant light to facilitate man’s awakening, dark forces are working overtime to prevent and subvert this very process from happening in any way possible.” Kathy J. Forti

To start, sometimes the psychic attack comes from someone we know, perhaps even a friend or family member. It may be intentional or unintentional. They are angry with you. What they feel and think forms a thought entity. Whether consciously or unconsciously, this thought form can bombard you with powerful negative energy which can affect your etheric physical body, your emotional astral body, your mental body, and your spirit.

Since I have experienced this from a former colleague I had to sever all ties to, I know what this can feel like when psychic retaliation is suddenly turned on you. Thinking positive thoughts is simply not enough. The former colleague I referred to was one of those individuals who wouldn’t let go and, unfortunately, suffered a strange accident where they sustained severe ligament injury. Karma works in mysterious ways and there are repercussions.” (Deflecting Psychic Attacks, Empowering One’s Light by Kathy J. Forti).

Mary Kurus also shares eye-opening points—for those who see Law of Attraction as the be all and end all of reality creation. It is time for you to start learning and stretching your mind. There is more than meet the eyes!! Disappointingly, there are many so-called Law of Attraction Teacher and so-called Spiritual Teachers who ALWAYS present Law of Attraction as the Alpha and Omega in creating our reality. I hope you learn somethings from the points below from Mary Kurus.

Psychic Attacks and Dark Negative Energies

Psychic attacks are defined as the manipulation of supernatural energies and forces. Psychic attacks occur when dark and negative energetic vibrations are sent from one individual to another individual or place creating disturbances in the energetic and physical bodies of the person or place. This negative energy can be called a spirit, an entity, a thought form or a dark negative energy. Each of these energies can create harmful effects within the person receiving them.

Not everything that’s considered difficult in a person’s life is the result of a psychic attack, but psychic attacks do happen and they happen more often today than ever before. You will hear some people say that negative energies and psychic attacks don’t exist and cannot happen if you don’t believe in them or give them energy by paying attention to them. This is not true. Problems can and do happen as a result of negative energies and psychic attacks. Recently mothers have contacted me about their teenagers who are practicing bits of black magic wanting to know how to help their children. There are disadvantages as well as advantages to Harry Potter. (Identifying and Removing Psychic Attacks by Mary Kurus; www.mkprojects.com)

Ancient Societies and Psychic Attacks

Societies from ancient times to the present have worked with psychic attacks and dark negative energies. The African and Haitian people practice voodoo and black magic. North American and European cultures practice black magic and witchcraft. Indian, Chinese and South American tribes have similar practices. Australian Aboriginals practice something called “pointing the bone”. Similar practices are recorded from ancient times and continue to be practiced today in all societies. In medieval times they burned people for practicing witchcraft.

Psychic Attacks -What Are They?

Psychic attacks involve the manipulation and movement of different types of dark energies, entities and spirits. They involve the transferring of dark and negative energies into someone’s physical and/or energetic bodies. Some of the dark energies and entities that find their way into physical and energetic bodies, and homes are sent without awareness, even though they are sent by humans. Others are sent intentionally to create harm and damage, often to control, manipulate or punish the individual. They can involve ritualistic techniques or ceremonies or use the psychic powers of the mind or a combination of both.

Auras are weakened by repressed emotions, negative emotions, through the regular use of drugs and alcohol, through smoking and a variety of diseases. The physical presence of fungus, parasites, worms, or metal, chemical or atomic poisons can seriously weaken an aura. Therefore the care and protection of your energetic body is as important as the physical body so you can repel psychic attacks and stay strong and healthy.

Intentional Psychic Attacks, Spells, Curses, Voodoo, Witchcraft

The dark and negative energies sent intentionally by others are called psychic attacks and can seriously affect humans and animals at a physical, emotional, mental and spiritual levels. Psychic attacks can include spells, voodoo, mantras, invocations, negative energy rays, or other types of black magic. They attack psyches and can produce debilitating effects on the overall health and energy level of the affected person.  Psychic attacks can also be sent unintentionally by someone who has the ability to send these but is not aware that they have this ability.

Dark Spirits and Entities

There are dark spirits and entities that can move into physical bodies and auras affecting what people think, speak, do, desire, and feel. The human who is invaded by these spirits or entities can take on the physical attributes, illnesses and behavior of the spirit or entity occupying the person to such a degree that there appears to be a complete personality change.

Negative Thought Forms

Another major type of dark negative energy that can be sent to others is through negative thinking, anger, wishing harm to others, jealousy, animosity, seeking revenge, vindictiveness, or other forms of thought that are based in anger, rage and fear. These are called thought forms and they can be lodged in a person’s body or various layers of their auras causing a wide range of physical, emotional, mental and spiritual difficulties.

Degrees of Strength of Psychic Attacks

Psychic attacks and other dark negative energies, entities and spirits can have a wide range of effect from low to medium to high. The symptoms or changes in health or behavior can also range from low to medium to high. Not all health problems or behavior changes are caused by psychic attacks since there can be so many causes for the same symptoms. Confusion often exists when other physical and emotional difficulties are present in an individual’s life. It’s important to carefully assess all possible sources for the difficulties including physical factors, energetic factors and emotional factors.

Can We Draw Dark Energies To Ourselves?

We definitely can draw dark energies, entities and spirits into ourselves without any influence whatsoever from external sources. Prolonged states of anger, rage, resentments, bitterness, vindictiveness, and many types of fears, will draw and attract these negative energies. It’s normal to get angry or fearful when things happen in our lives. These occurrences do not draw the dark side in to us. It’s the long-term and prolonged states that set up the energetic attraction. Ongoing repressed negative emotions can eventually turn into a certain type of entity.

Violence of all types, physical, emotional and mental is a very powerful draw for negative and dark types of energies. The regular use of drugs and alcohol also draws these types of energies. Now one glass of wine is a social habit and does not affect our energy fields. However, when we become drunk, be it from alcohol or drugs, our auras becoming weakened substantially and negative invaders are attracted to the energy set up by this state. Smoking also greatly weakens the energy field and leaves us very vulnerable to negative influences.

Symptoms of Psychic Attacks and Dark Energies

There are many different symptoms that can indicate negative and dark psychic energies, spirits or entities.

  • Suddenly acting totally out of character
  • Major changes in behavior for no reason
  • A loss of memory
  • Major changes in clarity of thinking or analytical ability
  • Sudden ongoing fatigue for no apparent reason
  • A drained feeling
  • Icy cold feeling on part or all of your body
  • Hearing someone’s voice regularly
  • Hearing voices
  • Recurrent or frequent nightmares
  • Strange or recurring accidents
  • Feeling someone is watching you
  • A discomfort or fear in a specific room or area in your home or office
  • A loss of self-confidence
  • A sudden loss of energy
  • Sudden illnesses that elude diagnosis
  • Imagining monsters, animals or frightening shadows
  • Sudden depression without an apparent cause
  • Seeming ongoing bad luck
  • Visions or hallucinations
  • Irrational fear, anger or sorrow
  • A negative obsessive thought, desire or fetish that won’t go away

How Do You Pick Up Negative Energies, Entities and Dark Energies?

Negative entities, spirits, and dark energies can be picked up almost anywhere where negative people, emotions or thoughts exist. They are drawn to negatives. Therefore you can pick these up at meetings, in stores, at any type of gathering, or in your own home. At times when individuals have suffered prolonged pain in a certain place, the energies of this pain can remain there even though a person has left that place.

Negative entities, spirits and dark energies are strongly drawn to individuals who use drugs and alcohol. When people get stoned, their auras get weak and these negative entities and energies can easily penetrate into a person’s aura or body. Humans are quite defenseless when they are stoned.

Smoking cigarettes or any other type of drug seriously weakens an individual’s aura making them quite vulnerable to the entry of negative entities, spirits, and dark energies. Smoking eventually creates holes in an individual’s aura so that their vital energy can seep out making them feel fatigued as well as making them vulnerable to negative energies.

Negative energies can be absorbed or can attach themselves to objects during the process of being made or by resting somewhere where negative energies exist. If you have the opportunity, ask an experienced antique dealer to tell you some of their stories about negative energies in antique furniture.

Negative energies can attach themselves to an object when it’s being made or just by where it lives.  These can be very difficult to eliminate.  This past Christmas I received a gift of a small box as gift given in love.  One day as I was checking my desk I realized that negative energies were attached to this little box.  They had attached themselves from dark energies in the store they were sold from.  I placed the box in the sun but that was not sufficient to clear the box.  I then washed it thoroughly with soap and water and then placed it in the sun again and that finally cleared the box.  It is much more difficult to clear old energies from antique pieces.

Sex and Negative Energies, Entities and Spirits

It’s important to look at sex as an exchange of energies, entities and potential vulnerability rather than from a moral perspective. When you have sex with another human being you absorb their very essence mixing it with your own essence. You literally absorb their good stuff as well as their bad stuff.

If you have sex with someone who has negative energies, entities or spirits, it is almost guaranteed that some of this negative energy will be transferred into your body and/or aura through the physical act of sex.  It’s very important to ensure you want to absorb the very essence and energetic elements of the other person before having sex with that person. The more sex partners you have, ensures the greater diffusion of your own very special essence. It amounts to not being quite yourself anymore.

“A client told me the story of her father who had an affair with a neighbor who happened to be a Wicca witch. This lady conducted many ceremonies and cast many spells.  After a period of time, this man, his wife and their children were all invaded by negative energies and entities. Be careful of the company you keep.” (Identifying and Removing Psychic Attacks by Mary Kurus; www.mkprojects.com)

Positive Affirmations to Raise Your Vibration and Reprogram Your Subconscious Mind

In my previous post, I have talked about raising our vibrations using the Kwan Yin Mantra. We all know what affirmations are. So, today I felt I should share with us affirmations. I hope that these affirmations help you to raise your vibration, reprogram your subconscious mind and set the tone for a positive life momentum for YOU!!! On my own, I have found these affirmations to be very useful and practical.

You are worthy

The first affirmation below is from Kelly Howell.

The founder of Brain Sync.

All of who you are

You deserve love, joy, guidance, fulfillment of dreams

You are loved beyond your imaginations

Embody the fulfillment of your desires

And they will be transformed from dreams into reality

Allow this truth to permeate your inner self

All deep within you as a vibrant, resilient energy that inspires to take action

And draws to you the very things you want

Kelly Howell

The next affirmation is from Sherold Barr. You can rephrase the affirmations to make it more personal

Now is your time

It is your time to make your dream come true

You are a conscious co-creator of your life

With your Divine Right, ask for what you want and live your dreams

You are the designer of your destiny

You were born to be all that you can be

You are a Powerful Force of Nature

You are worthy of your Divine destiny

Of abundance, light, love

You have the Power of your thoughts, words and action to command your future life experience into existence

Your Creator gave you unique gifts and talents to use in this Lifetime

You are here to share your gifts

And to help make great change in the world

You can do this

Sherold Barr

Affirmation is a level of Faith and it has the capacity to set the tone for a positive life momentum for you. Remember, your word is your wand as Florence Scovel Shinn eloquently said it. From my own personal experience; I have actually seen the power of positive affirmations. It happened to me in 2015; at that time I was not really aware about the Law of Attraction: though I would honestly say that we all are practicing Law of Attraction unconsciously.

“Positive affirmations are like light shining through the darkness, replacing despair with hope.” Tana Hoy

Facts About Positive Affirmations

“All physical reality is made up of vibrations of energy. Your thoughts too are vibrations of energy. This is not a concept or theory, but rather the startling new reality that quantum physics now reveals to us. Your thoughts have a powerful influence; they affect what happens to you.” Learn Mind Power

“Every time you think a thought, you send out that thought’s specific vibration. If a thought makes you feel good, if it’s a “positive” thought, it is vibrating at a higher frequency. If a thought makes you feel bad, if it’s a “negative” thought, it’s vibrating at a lower frequency. So, “I hate you” has a much lower frequency than “I love you” Deliberate Receiving

When you are nervous or afraid:

I trust my inner wisdom and intuition.

I breathe in calmness and breathe out nervousness.

I am whole, complete and perfect just as I am, right where I am at.

I am more than capable of bringing my dreams to life.

I release all negativity that is blocking the divine expression of who I am.

I am safe. There is Divine protection surrounding me.

From Dr. Carmen Harra, who wrote these inspiring positive affirmations in Huffington Post, which I am sharing with you because of their beauty that can easily touch your soul:

I am the architect of my life; I build its foundation and choose its contents.

Today, I am brimming with energy and overflowing with joy.

My body is healthy; my mind is brilliant; my soul is tranquil.

I have been given endless talents which I begin to utilize today.

I forgive those who have harmed me in my past and peacefully detach from them.

BUT…I have to remind you of something; affirmations are GOOD; but they do not and should not replace your responsibility of doing your “inner work.” What I mean is, if there is any problem you have—whether an energetic block or whatever it is…it behooves you to seek the help and guidance of an authentic spiritual teacher/healer. If it requires you to have a reading and unravel some things about your life; then do it.

Another important thing I have to tell you is; as much as you do affirmations; keep in mind that we are living in 3D (a lower realm) so you cannot always be in a higher vibrations because of the chaos and challenges of this physical world called Earth!!! Raising our vibrations/personal development is a work in progress. There is no graduation in it because the denseness lower vibration of this earth affects our energy, vibration and life in general.

It is like charging our phone and computer; you charge your phone and your computer and it gets full; but it does not remain fully charged forever; subsequently it runs down as low battery. Same thing with your car; when you fill it with fuel; it does not remain full permanently; it gets exhausted and you refill the fuel tank. The same ting applies to us human beings.

Concluding Thoughts

I would like to end this article with this write up below. It is a mixture of affirmations and wise sayings by Max Erhmann called Desiderata.

Desiderata

Go placidly amid the noise and haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence.

As far as possible without surrender, be on good terms with all persons. Speak your truth quietly and clearly; and listen to others, even the dull and ignorant; they too have their story. Avoid loud and aggressive persons; they are vexations to the spirit. If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain and bitter; for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself. Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans. Keep interested in your own career, however humble; it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.

Exercise caution in your business affairs; for the world is full of trickery. But let this not blind you to what virtue there is; many persons strive for high ideals, and everywhere life is full of heroism. Be yourself. Especially, do not feign affection. Neither be cynical about love; for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment it is perennial as the grass. Take kindly the counsel of the years, gracefully surrendering the things of youth. Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune. But do not distress yourself with imaginings. Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness. Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself.

You are a child of the universe, no less than the trees and the stars; you have a right to be here. And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should. Therefore be at peace with God, whatever you conceive Him to be, and whatever your labors and aspirations, in the noisy confusion of life keep peace with your soul. With all its sham, drudgery and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world.

Be cheerful. Strive to be happy.

WHAT HAPPENED TO MOTHER TONGUE?

Mother and Child picture: National Geographic Photos

According to the Oxford Advanced Learner’s Dictionary, Mother Tongue is “the language that your first learned to speak when you are a child.” I would want to say that mother-tongue does not necessarily mean the language of your mother. Rather, it represents the language of your father and mother. But everyone is considered as a citizen on his or her father’s ethnic background before that of the mother most especially when they are of diverse ethnic groups.

Today in our society (Nigeria and many other African countries as a case study) it is a very common habit that children can no longer speak their mother tongue! And this varies from ethnic group to ethnic group. It is a very ugly trend! I remember asking a boy if he can speak his mother tongue; his response? “I can hear but I can’t speak.” Isn’t that a sickening reply? Is that supposed to be applauded? Who is to blame for this ethnic misfortune? This is what you get these of civilization and without the proper indoctrination. And the hideous thing is that no one seems to be ready to change the course of things as it is. We have continued to stay aloof and this is not helping matters. The question now is; where do we go from here?

The problem is that most parents don’t take time to teach their children their languages. All they do is to anglicize their homes which will serve as a betrayal to the child. The problem starts from home. Most of the time, parents concentrate on their jobs and they spend less time with their children these days. They expect nannies, babysitters or teachers to teacher their kids all they need to know. In this regard, parents are the one to blame for their carefree attitude as far as their children are not able to speak their language. In the times of old, parents took the responsibility of educating their children on the proper way to appreciate their language but the reverse is the case nowadays.

Our language is our identity, if you can’t speak your language fluently; you are lost and you don’t know where you are coming from. You are more or less as a lost Prince if you cannot trace your Kingdom. We need to ask ourselves question—that is, had the owners of English language not develop it, would it have been recognized let alone being a popular language in the world?

I can remember some years back; a former governor in Nigeria built a school and in that school French, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese and German language is taught. I asked myself, “How many Nigerian languages are they learning in these countries or in oversea? How many African countries are being studied as a course in school in other countries of the world?

For our generation to be a lively one and for us to retain and revive our cultural heritage and identity, we need to improve and develop our language—I mean value it. It is true that Nigeria is been referred to as a country that speak Igbo, Yoruba and Hausa; but I can boldly say that these three original languages has no value as compared to English language and it is given little or no recognition.

Mother and Child picture: Instagram

I am not an Anglo-phobia, but all I am saying in effect is that we should maintain a balanced view of English language. Nigeria is not the only country colonized by Britain; India is one of them—but in India their native Hindi, Tamil and Creole is spoken with a good accent, pride, joy and love. You recognize an Indian by his or her native dressing and the tone of the Indian language. I am not in any way an Anglo-phobia; I have a bunch of English people as friends and Mentors. All I am saying is that we should maintain a balanced attitude towards English language—I mean we should love and be proud of our language too! I am amazed that in Asia and other European countries; their mother tongues are used as a means of teaching and learning even in their Universities; a trend you can never see in Nigeria or across African countries!

Many Nigerians do not value their language let alone being able to speak it. Now how do you think it will look like when a foreigner ask you to teach him your language and you cannot. Anybody that cannot speak his mother tongue is a stranger in his land. For example, I never expected that someone from Germany would ask me to teach her my mother tongue. In a conversation she was like how do you say good morning and how are you in your language? Now imagine I do not know how to speak my mother tongue; that would have been a shameful thing. But because I knew how to speak my language; I was able to tell her how we greet in our language and she marveled!

I was teaching my pupils in the classroom some time ago and one of them told me “teacher I can speak French language.” I was like, really…? Moved with pride, he began speaking the French language. I let him finish and then I asked him and the other pupils: “How many French people can speak any Nigerian native language? Do you think the French people will like to speak Nigerian native language? How many Nigerian languages are taught in the university in other countries? Then I told my own story. Before I went to college, my parents wanted me to study English language in college; but I told them: “Look, I have learnt English language in the primary and secondary school and that is okay by me. If you insist that I must study English; then I will not go to college. I will just leave home…besides, how many White people are studying our Nigerian language in school?” I am fortunate to have understanding parents. They let me follow my heart—so I studied Political Science and Social Studies. My pupils were dumbfounded to hear me say these. They thought I was going to praise the boy who spoke French; but I did not. Sadly, more than half of them cannot speak their own mother tongue because their parents do not teach them!!

The stronger the children’s mother tongue, the easier it is for them to learn new languages. Children who have a solid foundation in their mother tongue, develop better literacy skills also in other languages that they learn. When parents and other important adults have time to discuss and read in the child’s mother tongue and thus help expand the child’s vocabulary, the child will be better prepared when kindergarten or school starts and can easily learn new languages. Children’s knowledge and skills transfer over languages. Skills learned in the mother tongue will transfer to the other languages learned in school, as long as all languages are supported.

Therefore, it is very important that parents speak their mother tongue at home. Feelings, which are important for the child’s development, are also passed on through the mother tongue. Parents can support their children’s second and foreign language learning by using mother tongue diversely, reading and telling stories. It’s important for the children that parents have a positive attitude towards new languages. If children notice that their parents are supportive of learning new languages, children themselves will then be more motivated to learn. The best way for parents to support their children’s linguistic development is to spend time with their children. Storytelling, discussions, reading books and offering support and encouragement in their mother tongue will aid children on their journey to become multilinguals. Cummins, J. (2001). Bilingual Children’s Mother Tongue: Why is it important for education?

Now, mother tongue has saved so many persons where ethnic crises caused the massacre of innocent citizens. A citizen is caught by his own group and he or she exhibits in ability to speak the language; they might mistake such a person for an impostor and you what that means in times of war. Furthermore, a leader who is unable to speak the language of the subject is in a disadvantageous position.

Skills learned in the mother tongue will transfer to the other languages learned in school, as long as all languages are supported. Therefore, it is very important that parents speak their mother tongue at home. Feelings, which are important for the child’s development, are also passed on through the mother tongue.

The solution to this problem starts from the grassroots. Parents should teach their children their language; they should avoid that “Englishness of a thing” and government in all African countries should try to give more recognition and value to our language just like the English language is given recognition and highly valued. Our educational authorities should put the teaching of indigenous languages in our school curriculum and place more emphasis on it.

How Do Married Couples Show Fidelity When They Are Living Apart?

Couple sleeping: Getty images

Nowadays, infidelity is on the HIGH….I will agree with Cyndi Lauper when she said in her song Time After Time…”there is nothing new….” Right from the ancient times there have been issues of infidelities in marriages.

Often times we see and hear about unfaithfulness in Marriages. Yes, many Marriages failed due to infidelity on the part of the husband or wife. If you are curious enough to know about the causes of these infidelities; it can have many root causes…. for example, it could be that the man is not doing his conjugal duty enough to sexually satisfy the woman as a man or it could be that the woman does not know how to satisfy the husband sexually as well. As crazy as it may sound, poverty and lack of care by the man can lead a woman into infidelity; when a woman cannot eat three square meal in your house—or meet her basic needs she might decide to look for a man who will be able to feed her. Or if you are the uncaring type emotionally; it might make the woman to start meeting another man where her emotional and basic needs can be met.

Keep in mind that it is ALWAYS vice versa! Sometimes, it could be that the duo (husband and wife) live apart from each other because of work. PLEASE, DO NOT get me wrong! I am NOT supporting adultery or infidelity!! For example, in our neighborhood many marriages failed because of infidelity. I shall tell you about them.

Before I go on to give you some life stories of infidelities; let me tell you ONE FUNNY THING that happened to me during the course of writing this blogpost. One cool day, I was just lying on my bed and this thought came to me…I was wondering how couples cope with sexual urges when they are living far away from each other. I don’t really know what sparked that thought in me. Maybe I was feeling hot and horny that day. So the thought have to come. I remind you that sex is in our Chakras. It doesn’t matter the gender you have it with. So, as I was saying… this blogpost is the most “comfortable” one I have ever written (I decided to use the word comfortable out of Levity). Here is what happened. I got the idea of this blogpost lying on the bed. Then I also found myself typing this blogpost lying on the bed. It was a cool day too. But the difference is that I had an earpiece on my ears as I typed this blogpost and it rained.

Like I said before I am not supportive of adultery and infidelity. If you ask me “Kingsley; are you an unfaithful boyfriend, father or a cheating husband?” The only answer I have is no. I remember Virginia Duan (AKA Mandarin Mama) talked about the Scary Mommy… that’s quite wonder-full…

Virginia Duan (AKA Mandarin Mama)

The question I like to ask myself is, are my a Scary Daddy? Not at all. And when you find out that you are Quirky, Maverick and vibrating the beautiful Rainbow colours it becomes even deeper. My elder sister Maureen got married in 2012. She is happily married with three children. My elder brother Bright got married in 2019 and I am the last child of my parents. One day, my mom looked at me and said of all my children you are the Quirkiest….we both burst into laughter… whether you believe it or not, I am one COOL and HOT dude. No doubt about that. I know what I am talking about. But I don’t focus more attention on my coolness and hotness. I am focusing on building a successful life for myself. To live from the place of Mindfulness and Higher Consciousness is my utmost concern! Every other thing is falling into place.

Now, without further ado let us dive into the topic for today. In our neighborhood, there was a woman married to a man. The husband works in an oil company in Warri so he visits the wife and children. It happened that the husband has not visited her and her children for one month because of work; so this woman began having affair outside. This went on for some time until one day the husband caught the wife. Though he has been hearing rumour about it; but that day Nemesis caught up on the wife. When the man found out that the woman was actually committing adultery. That was the end of the marriage.

Then the case of another neighbor who is a driver; according to what we heard it was said that the woman said that the man was not satisfying her enough sexually. Hence she is meeting another young guy outside who can satisfy her well. The husband is a driver and in his middle age. When the man learnt that the wife was cheating on him with evidence; that was the end of their marriage. But I don’t think distance is really a factor because some couples who live together do cheat. For example, the second couple whose husband is a driver—they live together. Actually, cheating occurs from both sides. Some men are fond of having concubine when they are away from home because of work. So it happen both sides.

And when you find out that you are Quirky, Maverick and vibrating “the beautiful Rainbow colours it becomes even deeper

Having seen that this is really a controversial topic I decided to carry out a questionnaire on this topic. I did the questionnaire online from two Facebook groups. Here was the question I asked as my questionnaire….

If you ask me Kingsley; are you an unfaithful boyfriend, father or a cheating husband? The only answer I have is no.

“Here is the question that I am seeking answers to….

How do married couples maintain Fidelity among themselves when they are living apart? For example; when the husband is in another state working away from his wife and children. So how will the faithfulness be like? U know sex is in our chakras and the urge can be soo strong….on the part of the Man and Woman; how can they keep or be able to maintain Fidelity even when they are living apart? And maybe the Man does not visit often….

Please I need your heart-based responses. Thanks

P. S.

Anyone who wants to chide me should do so with Compassion. I’m human.”

Below are the responses I got from the people who answered my question.

Responses From People

“Wow… This is a great topic that has been affecting many homes. Do you know a man can stand the test of time without sex if truly the two of you are made for each other. I am talking from my own experience. The SP I am waiting for is a great example. I lost him through my insecurities. Although I had another relationship after we were separated for 10years,he begged me to come back to him but I refused but after 10years the spirit told me to go back to him and reconcile but unfortunately for me. He had decided to move on. I went there we had it and I was so ashamed to see him so tight and thick(I hope you get my point). I left there so down that I had betrayed his trust in me. And I will need to accept my fate but the spirit said I must wait for him that he is still faithful to me which I used to confirm through his posts on Facebook. My point now is if the lady wants him to be sincere and maintain Fidelity, I will advise 3 things I learnt through the spirit:

1. DO NOT DOUBT HIS FAITHFULNESS: Your thoughts creates your reality. Once that thought comes in claim this Affirmation or subliminal; I AM LOVE. I AM THE SWEETEST THING…NAME… LOVES TO HAVE IT WITH. HE THINKS OF ONLY ME HE IS SO SINCERE WITH ME. I AM NOW CONFIDENT I AM HIS LIFE AND LOVE ALONE. HE THINKS OF ME ALL THE TIME. ETC. You can add more.

2. LEARN MORE IN SEXUAL BOOST: Learn how to make him feel special with you in closed doors. Make his home coming the first thing that will come to his heart. Help him see how special he is to you. Practice all the method you ever heard him asking you before. Do not say no to him when he ask you, tell him to teach you that you are made for only him. This is the greatest thing a man loves to hear their woman to say.

3.NEVER ALLOW INCINERATION: Incineration is insecurity. And this is no1 enemy of a good relationship. Please even when you see it coming keep your faith on. Keep confirming your truth. Create space for what you want to create and be happy always.(very important) This is my little contribution to this. Thanks” Bolaji, The Aligned Light Inc.

“As a private investigator who specializes in infidelity, I can tell you that the #1 thing that leads to infidelity is not spending enough time together. It may not always be about sex, but it’s definitely about that lack of emotional closeness (especially for women). So the answer to maintaining fidelity is to drop the distance and spend time together. If it’s not possible due to jobs, etc…then find another job. Just my 2 cents.” Ana Falx

“Love conquers all. When you love someone on such a deep level urges are not an issue ever. Even apart. Being an oilfield wife is like being a single parent. Neither have strayed in 12 years 10 years married and 4 kids. Love when on a deep level triumphs desire. If you can’t give your entire self to someone then Love is not the main focus…Lust and Desire are.” Teri Hamilton

“Having sound character and a healthy dose of empathy. If I’m hungry and go into a restaurant that does not give me the right to snatch food off of someone else’s plate. If I am angry, that does not give me the right to strike someone else. Both of these actions would likely have legal consequences, and for many/most, those outweigh any potential benefits or reward gained from such actions. However, if I believed I am entitled to sex, do not value the feelings of my partner or the vows made, then quite simply, I am excusing my selfish desires and justifying it with an “urge.” In this case, my own satisfaction takes higher priority than the commitment and destruction of my partner and our relationship. Urges, distance, opportunity or whatever other reasoning are merely excuses that poorly cover a selfish heart that is more concerned about what they can get, than doing what is right.” AlyssaBeth Harding

“What do you prefer? You want honesty and monogamy, your only job is to focus on that! What does trust feel like? What does passion together feel like? What does freedom feel like? Remember, law of attraction is like gravity so you get what you focus in wanted and unwanted. Are you able to feel good regardless of what’s happening around you? That is unconditional alignment and that’s your best route right now since we cannot control another, nor do we want to. If it were me, I’d find many ways to feel good, besides sex. Meditation, appreciation, finding ways to conjure the feelings that see brings. In your unconditional alignment, he’ll become irrelevant and there’s literally nothing more powerful than that!!! You’ve got this!!!!! If you really can’t help yourself and need that urge settled get some toys and satisfy yourself. Even better while you’re on FaceTime/phone call with your other half. Just meditate afterwards. You’ll be a lot more relaxed.” Danielle Lumbruno Perrino

“My opinion; if you are married, but never spend time with your spouse, get divorced. What’s the point of being married if you can’t do what married people do? Suffer day after day? Nope. Life is too short, people. There are billions of people on this planet, including ones that have the ability to stay local. I’ll probably get grief from people who have military partners, but the statistics are real. With enough time away, somebody is going to cheat. Sorry to break the news. Good luck!” Jesse Hahka

“Cheating is never a mistake it is a choice. My husband cheated on me telling me that I had so many flaws that is why he cheated on me but I told him, he himself is not perfect but i did not choose to cheat on him. Told him he is just plain stupid in addition to his imperfection and I will not be blame for his stupid choice. He made his bed so lie on it.” Queen Bea

“A person either has adultery in them, or not. Period. If they do – deal with it in whatever way you choose, but changing them can only be done if they realize it and are willing to make the enormous challenge of changing. There’s very little you can do.” Hanaan Rosenthal

“The desire to be faithful is a choice. One has to be committed to themselves and the relationship to make it work. Having the technology we have, definitely makes it easier. Video chatting can include sex, you need to be creative.” Juliette Lopez

“I’ve had a situation where me and my love had to be apart for 10 months it came easy to me because I have no desire for another…In short phone calls and FaceTime helped a lot.” Sylva Mor

“How does it feel to be betrayed? Ask yourself… how would I feel if the person that I chose to be married to, share my life with, have children with decided that their carnal/ flesh urges were more important than my trust in them? Is it fair to subject my spouse to whatever I may contract from a person outside the marriage… be it a STD or some bad energy mojo? Once the trust is gone… it is really difficult to get it back. Sex is sacred. To give into the desires of the flesh, lust, with no regard to the betrayal… is still living in the illusion of the physical plane. Ego. well… that says a lot right there. If you cheat on your spouse and commit infidelity – you are committing an act of betrayal of their trust. My ex husband did it to me numerous times and then I left. Not wasting my life with someone like that I know my worth.” Stephanie Renee Hudgins

“Since we are talking of monogamy here, it is only expected to have loyalty. At all costs, period. It is a conscious choice. Believe me, I’ve been on LDR (diff countries halfway across the world in distance) before wherein the guy cheated eventually. and I am on another one now (same amount of distance like before) but the man is full of loyalty and honesty. Cheating is always done out of free will. Distance will never justify infidelity. I’m pretty sure the unfaithful one won’t agree to having a taste of his or her own medicine. There are different avenues or platforms that can be utilized to still foster sexual intimacy. And basic logic is that if you are even entertaining the thought of infidelity, no need to engage in monogamy. Just do Polyamory instead. Good luck with the writing. It’s nice to hear from a fellow writer and researcher.” Therese Medina

“When you have a connection at the deepest level, you feel as one and know that anything that is done without the thought of that oneness hurts one. You know that by hurting one, you are hurting oneself. That connection allows you to be together in any time and distance. It just needs to be kept nurtured by having faith in one and another, and always returning to that truth, even when there is nothing to hold but that faith.” Heather Lea Wightman

“Myself and my Girlfriend have been physically apart for 10 months now, and have no such worries or concerns, despite our both having high sex-drives. We’ve even laughed about this very subject   Why? Because we know each other inside out, are 100% DEVOTED to each other, and Respect each other. That aside, we’re not only ‘lovers’, but Soul-mates also.” Chris Baker

“Self control and freedom to choose is what separates us from the animals.” Robert Hoyt

“We live in a mirrorverse. What you do to others will present itself in your own experience. Every. Single. Time. So people should be very careful what you do to hurt others. That will spin back into your experience and the Universe will always find balance. It’s a lesson in compassion and karma escapes no one. i.e. You waste someone’s time, yours will be wasted. That sort of thing.” Kelly Kryszak

“Once the trust is gone there is nothing left.” Andrea Clavelle

“Well… how do you cheat on someone you married, with a ring on your finger and then not feel bad about it? How would one just ignore their partners feelings completely all the while call it cheating and do it anyway?” Dave Kinniburgh

“They made a commitment not to be with other people when they got married. Not to mention if they love each other wholeheartedly, then they won’t want anyone else.” Shelley Hilburn Peak

“Women seek attention and validation from a relationship if she isn’t getting it she will find it somewhere else. As a man you want connection loyalty and support if he isn’t getting it he will step out.” Matt Phelps

“This part of faithfulness is a choice. I have seen family members who cheat when they are not even far away, I have seen family members who cheats when their husband is far. Same with some people I used to talk to. Cheating can be physical or emotional.” Glory Gonzalez

“Well fidelity was never an issue for me personally. If I’m committed I’m committed. My EX on the other hand not so much. We spent many months apart during our 26 years together as he was military. Never once was I even tempted to cheat.” Myken Auffhammer

“If they find validation in sex then fidelity is impossible. If they have sex only for connection then maintains the connection and they won’t look elsewhere to connect. It’s going to depend on how secure they are in themselves, and the strength of the relationship. In reality however you just need to decide if you could handle if they did sleep with someone else. Are they worth the risk and could you handle the fallout.” Sarah Olson

“People are going to do whatever they want. If they want to be loyal, they will. If they don’t want to be loyal, they won’t. We have these expectations of how something “should be” but is that the reality of the situation? I always say if anyone has to question ANYTHING in reference to a relationship, they already know the answer.” Tiffiney Patterson

Having talked about this, one might want to ask if there is actually a way to stop infidelity in marriage; whether the couples are living together or apart. If there is anything else you think is not added in this blogpost. Feel free to add it in the comments or send me an email and I will add it to the blogpost. I would really love to hear your thoughts.

YOU CAN NEVER FOOL A SAINT!

Once a noble Kievan merchant exhausted with ailment was brought to Agapit. So, the merchant started promising Agapit the best of his valuables, if only the healer delivered him of his illness. And he was shaking two money-bags with golden coins all around at that, as if implying that there was nothing he wouldn’t part with. Golden coins were items of great luxury at that time. They had Prince Vladimir Svyatoslavovich image on the one side and ancestral sign of Rurik Dynasty, shaped like a trident, with a lettering saying ‘Vladimir, and this is his gold’ on the other side. Those golden coins were a feather in his cap, an indication of his close links with those who stood at ‘control levers’ of the Old Russian State. Not everyone could boast such valuables. But everything loses its meaning, when a disease overcomes. The merchant was ready to part with this money to return his past health.

Agapit healed the merchant. The latter had promised in public to repay Agapit’s kindness, but the greed seized him. So, the merchant decided to swindle the Saint. Nobody saw what was there in the bags, so the merchant put cheap silver coins into the bags instead of the promised money and added only one golden coin for his conscience’ sake. He was glad he could both recover and save so many valuables owing to his guile. He came to Agapit again with his retinue. Agapit only smiled glancing at his proudly held out bags with money and said: ‘I have not taken pay from anyone, and I won’t take any from you. But you shall keep your word. Come out and give away all this gold to beggars’.

The merchant rejoiced even more and went off, his retinue attending him, to carry out the order of the Saint. But when he opened one of the bags to take the money out, all coins turned out to be golden except for one. “So, the merchant became upset and thought he must have confused the money-bags. But he kept the promise given in front of his retinue. When he came home, however, he was terror-stricken, because all his gold and jewelry had turned into cheap silver coins. And among this pile of odd money he was able to find only one golden coin.” “Huh, it appears that such swindlers existed even in those days,” Volodya uttered in a bass. “There are enough of them at any time,” Sensei said with a sad smile.

“Greed is the favorite vice of the human beasts. Not only among the laity, but, unfortunately, also among monks. Even during Agapit’ time many of the monastic community, where he lived, had more love for gold than for God, and they exploited their monastic rank to swindle money out of simpletons.”

As I was scrolling through Stephen’s tips for writers I began to see that it actually contained gems of wisdom—which are practical and indispensable. The only option left for me right there and then was to stop and read it with a great mindfulness. I actually learnt many things from Stephen’s tips for writers which is I asked for his permission to publish it in my website and he gave me his permission.

So, here are the writing tips for writers. Personally, I have found these tips to be VERY meaningful, profound, universal and eye-opening!!

Writing is a craft, like playing a musical instrument or painting with oils. Every aspiring writer must acquire this craft, just as every musician must learn his or her instrument. Today some high schools and most colleges offer creative writing courses, and so do various writer’s critique groups. If you look around you will undoubtedly find one in your area.

Whether you take a formal course or not, most of the craft must be acquired on your own. The best place to begin is the public library, which is full of good books written by people who know how to write. Check out good books by good writers in the genre in which you are interested. Analyze their styles, see how they set up a scene, how they do dialogue, how the characters are introduced and developed, how the writer makes the names memorable or fails to do that, how the story is paced, how the action unfolds, how the conflicts develop, how the subplots are made part of the story, how the climax is handled. Analyze the scenes, find the key words which bring out the emotion of a scene, study how the writer got his effect, how he uses verbs and adverbs, try to decide why he used the key words he did. Why did the writer choose the point-of-view he used, did he shift verb tenses, why are the paragraphs where they are, why did he use action verbs in one place and “to be” verbs in another?

I recommend that every aspiring writer join a critique group. Smaller is usually better. Each person in the group must commit to write on their story every week and submit it for criticism, and they must agree to make the time to read everyone else’s submissions. These submissions are all discussed at the periodic meetings of the groups. Craft is learned here, and you can see how your stuff strikes readers. And by pointing out weak places in other people’s craft, you are forced to reexamine your own.

The weak point of critique groups is that egos occasionally get involved. If the discussion is collegial and everyone is trying to help every member get better at the genre they have chosen, all will go well. But if egos get out of control, the wise course is to find another critique group.

I also recommend that every aspiring writer attend one or more writer’s workshops which are held on an annual basis all over the country. Google Writer’s Workshops and see what pops up. In addition to discussions of craft which are scheduled throughout the workshops, attendees bring samples of their own work to show to the professional editors and literary agents who often attend. It is here, in a writer’s workshop, that you will have your first opportunity to pitch your work to an agent. The agent you meet at a workshop may well be the agent who ultimately takes you on as a client when you finally have a truly commercial manuscript ready to go.

Originality

Beginning writers are well advised to write about something they know. Many beginners try to write about people and places and events that they know absolutely nothing about, and consequently expend vast quantities of time and effort but cannot get the story to read right.

The flip side of writing about what you know is the publishing reality that originality sells. To break into publishing and establish a major career, you must go boldly where no one has gone before, to steal a phrase. First novelist J. K. Rowling wrote of a boy wizard at an English school. Original and fresh, her novels to date have been mega-bestsellers world-wide and made her our first literary billionaire. English housewife Agatha Christie decided to write mysteries, and although she got them published, was an unnoticed pulp mystery writer until she wrote “The Murder of Roger Ackroyd,” in which the narrator turns out to be the killer. That plot was a stroke of genius; the book was a major bestseller. That idea led to a marvelous forty-plus year career writing mysteries, some of which contain truly dazzling, original plot twists.

The list goes on and on: Arthur Conan Doyle founded the mystery genre with “A Study in Scarlet,” in which he introduced Sherlock Holmes. Tom Clancy broke in with a unique tale of a Soviet submarine skipper who decided to defect to America, taking his sub with him. Amy Tan’s books about a Chinese family plowed ground left fallow since the death of Pearl Buck. My first novel, “Flight of the Intruder,” was the first novel of naval aviation in the modern jet age. The only one remotely similar was “The Bridges at Toko-Ri,” by Michener, which was about the Korean War. (It was also one of Michener’s worst books.) I wrote about Vietnam. My publisher asked, “How come no one else ever wrote about naval aviation?”

“Guess they never thought of it,” I replied.

So the formula is originality and craft, workmanship and sweat. Lots of sweat.

Book Doctors

First time writers, or indeed, any writer struggling with a manuscript, might consider the services of a book doctor. In the past editors at major publishers might labor over a manuscript, writing, rewriting, and if necessary, inserting or eliminating subplots, all in the effort to get a manuscript up to publishing quality. Today editors at publishing houses do not do this—they simply don’t have the time. Nor can the publishing houses afford the cost. The manuscript must arrive in-house polished and ready for the line editor, who merely checks spelling, punctuation, capitalization and the like. The book doctor, paid for by the writer, fills this empty niche. You can find these services on the web, but check out their references before sending money.

Craft aside, to write successfully you must have something to write about. Every word you write is a distillation of everything you know about life, about how the world works, about how people think and feel, their motivations, their hopes, their dreams, and so on. How do you write a woman in love? Well, if you are not a woman, it would help a lot if you had known one or two who were desperately, hopelessly in love. To write successfully you must understand what it is to be human. Only then can you reduce the human experience to language and put it on paper. Our best writers drank deeply of life. I give you Mark Twain, Winston Churchill, Ernest Hemingway.

One of the common mistakes of aspiring writers is to write about themselves. Some do it to explore their inner emotions, others do so for the simple reason that they know themselves best. Regardless, writing about yourself is a literary dead-end, a place where readers do not care to go.
Students of writing must write about other people, learn to create characters that live within the boundaries of the fictional world created by the writer. This is the very essence of the craft, without which you cannot progress.

At some point every aspiring writer must evaluate his or her work and make a realistic appraisal of its worth. Are you just laying bricks? Here is where a critique group can be of real value. Do not try to write unless you are willing to fail. If you are unwilling to let your friends read your stuff because they might not understand it, it is unpublishable–the book buying public won’t understand it either. This leads inexorably to my next point: if you have to explain to a reader what they should have gotten out of a story, it didn’t work. Go back and work on it some more. The story must stand on its own. How well it stands is a direct measure of how well you have mastered the craft of writing.

The Courage to Fail

Speaking of the courage to fail, through the years I have noticed a curious phenomenon. People who are experts in literature, who know grammar, who can discuss the intricacies of plotting, characterization, setting, pacing, etc., until hell won’t have it, people who seem to have all the equipment necessary to succeed at writing fiction, rarely try it. Although these people sometimes have PhDs in English and literature, they seem quite content watching hacks like me turn out commercial novels. I’m not complaining, you understand, but I have a theory about why this is so. These folks would be satisfied with nothing less than writing a masterpiece, and since they know that is highly unlikely, they write nothing. On the other hand, I have no ambitions about masterpieces–I just want to write fun books that entertain people and make a living doing it. I want to write the kind of books that I like to read. So I write and the experts read. In a way it’s sort of sad.

Once the manuscript is well written, all typos and misspellings removed, you are ready to try to get it published. The manuscript should be double-spaced on plain white paper, one side only, not bound in any way. Your name, address and phone number should be on the first and last pages of the manuscript. Do NOT submit the manuscript anywhere until you are convinced it is the best it can be.

Agents today perform the screening process that used to be done by publishing houses. Agents read unsolicited submissions and accept those they think are publishable. Today most publishing houses will not look at an unagented submission. Don’t even try. Get an agent.

The best place to find agents is at writer’s workshops or one of the big three conventions, ThrillerFest, The Mystery Writers Guild, and The Romance Writers of America. Their annual gatherings are happening events, well worth your time. Check them out on the web.

I would pass up any agent who wants to charge a “reading” fee. Bona fide literary agents make their money selling manuscripts to publishers, not reading them. However, do not expect a bona fide agent to return your manuscript with a long letter full of incisive literary criticism. If you want literary criticism it is only fair that you pay for it.

Breaking In

Publishers and agents all say that they are actively searching for the raw material required to keep the presses running and cartons of books on the way to bookstores. There is no conspiracy to lock out unpublished authors. Two hard realities govern the publishing world, and you must overcome them both to break in:

  1. Book buyers like to buy brand names. They will buy a new book by an author they have read and enjoyed without even reading the blurb on the dust jacket. First novels sell an average of less than 5,000 copies. (And just how many first novels have you read this year?) The consumer’s focus on established talent makes it incredibly difficult for a publisher to make a first novel a commercial success.
  2. Most aspiring writers haven’t acquired the craft of writing, so 99% of the stuff agents and publishers see is unpublishable. Consequently, while book people are looking for publishable material, finding the jewels is like searching a hog pen for diamonds. (One editor told me that editors see so much trash, sometimes the glitter of the mediocre seems irresistible, which is, he explained, why so much forgettable stuff gets into print. The book-buying public, less jaded, is more fickle.)

The challenge to beginners is this: you must write a book so good, so compelling, the agents and publishers decide that the book can be sold despite the brand-name focus of the book-buying public. Remember, these people are trying to make money publishing books; they must sell books to survive. My former editor at St. Martin’s Press, Charles Spicer, published fifty books a year. In addition to the books he was publishing, he looked at several hundred manuscripts a year sent to him by literary agents who presumably had screened out the treacle. He made offers on those manuscripts he thought were publishable by his house. He had just two assistants. Since he worked in corporate America, he was held accountable for the sales of those books he published. He survived by picking more winners than losers, so the question always before him was, Who will buy this book? Yet even if he believed there was an audience out there, he would not sign a writer unless he was firmly convinced that writer could deliver a commercial manuscript ready for the line editor with a minimum of editorial guidance, or he was holding such a manuscript in his hand.

NEVER forget–publishing is a FOR PROFIT business. Your manuscript must convince everyone all along the line that they can MAKE MONEY by publishing it. Notice that I said “your manuscript,” for truly, it must sell itself. Regardless of who you know or how persistent your agent is, the manuscript must be good enough that publishers can see how it can be sold.

More people are writing today than ever before in history. Word-processing programs and PCs have freed writers from the clerical drudgery that plagued the craft since the invention of the alphabet. In addition, the booming economy has given huge numbers of people the luxury of time, which many folks are spending at the keyboard of one of those PCs. The result is an unprecedented flood of manuscripts. The market for books, however, continues to grow slowly–while more books are sold today than ever before, the percentage of people reading continues to shrink as technology and lifestyles change. As you might imagine, all these writers searching for agents and publishers have created a bonanza for scam artists.

Be Wary

Anyone can claim to be a literary agent; there are no licensing or knowledge requirements and ethics are strictly optional. Many writers have been rejected so often by the bona fide publishing industry that they become easy prey for the unscrupulous. A few words of praise is the usual hook. Regardless of how the scam starts, eventually the subject of money will come up. The writer is requested to pay reading fees, acceptance fees, all kinds of fees, and promises flow like beer at a biker bar. Some of these people are being actively prosecuted for mail fraud, but jailing scoundrels is a slow business and once your money is gone, it’s usually gone forever.

Often folks who decide to self-publish then think of me. They send me an email or even a book, wanting a puff or plug for their tale. I do not read or plug manuscripts or books that have not been accepted for publication by a commercial–i. e., large, royalty-paying–publishing house, almost all of which are headquartered in New York. I have neither the time nor expertise to read the three or four self-published books that arrive in the mail every week, so I don’t read any but those recommended and sent to me by editors I know in the New York publishing industry. And I plug only those which I think my fans will enjoy reading. Sometimes, alas, I guess wrong, and irate readers feel free to tell me so, too.

Once your novel is accepted by a publishing house, you will find that today you must get actively involved in publicizing the work. Publishers used to do all the publicity and promotion, but we live in a changing world beset by inexorable economic realities. Your ability and willingness to help sell the book will be a huge factor in its success.

Write because it’s fun, because you enjoy the creative process. If what you write ever gets published and you make a few bucks, that will be the icing on the cake.

Good Luck!

My Journey to Becoming a Published Author

From childhood, I have always loved writing. I started writing in high school. I published my first book in 2011 when I was in college but it was not a successful one. There were many challenges at that time. In fact, I had to go on an involuntary hiatus of five years! I never wrote a thing! But I am thankful that I am a published author today.

Me (Kingsley )

Before I talk about my book, let me share with you about my journey to becoming a published author. After going on an involuntary hiatus from writing for five years; I picked up my pen to start writing again. We all know the story of J.K. Rowling and how she was rejected by 12 publishers. I had the same experience of J.K. Rowling because I was rejected by 13 publishers.

Worse yet, a leading Nigerian publisher whom I trusted and thought would be very happy to publish my book rejected my book and told me that my manuscript did not meet their standard. But, an American publisher (Christian Faith Publishing) told me that my manuscript was worthy of being published.

Here is the message I got from Christian Faith Publishing when my manuscript was accepted:

Dear Kingsley,

Christian Faith Publishing takes great pride in accepting your book, “Cindy And Her Beautiful Bird” for partnership in publication with us. The review board’s decision to represent your project is a reflection of the high standards we maintain for the kinds of books we represent. We feel yours is a very worthy project and we are excited to begin working with you. We congratulate you on the coming publication of your book
.

It has not been an easy journey for me becoming a published author! I wrote Cindy And Her Beautiful Bird in 2013 when I was in College. It took me this long to have it published because of the challenges I had. But I am eternally grateful to my one in a million, amazing and noble mentor and dear friend: Suzanne who sponsored my writing and publishing project from start to finish.

After I got rejected by the Nigerian publisher; I was having a conversation with a friend of mine in Michigan; Kelly and we were talking about writing. When I told her that I am a writer; she exclaimed “Oh that is great! Have your books been published?” I told her no; because I have not found a publisher to accept my work for publication and that I have been rejected by publishers.

Kelly told me that she would make some research and write back to me. Three days later, she wrote back to me and sent me the contact information of Christian Faith Publishing and then encouraged me to write them.

At this point my book was just a manuscript and it had not yet been edited and proofread. I called my dear mentor in Florida; Suzanne and told her that a friend sent me an address of a publisher in USA. Suzanne called Christian Faith Publishing and had a very detailed conversation with them and out of compassion; she willingly used her personal resources to foot the bills of my publishing project.

Even from the beginning, it was Suzanne who paid for the editing of my book which was edited by a professional editor in USA. With the help of Suzanne, I manifested a publishing contract with a five star publishing company in USA and today I am a published author because of Suzanne.

Suzanne is not just a dear friend and mentor; she is a Mother, an Earth Angel, Emissary of Light, Healer and a Goddess on her own right. I honestly describe Suzanne as Kwan Yin personified because that is what she is. Suzanne embodies Compassion in its truest form and she has a heart of GOLD!

As I am typing this line of my story; I am filled with gratitude and goose bumps because without her help I would not have achieved this! Even my blog (www.kingsley-osajie.com) was made possible with the help of Suzanne. Here is what she told me some time ago:

“Kingsley, I see the potentials in you, and I am happy to help you succeed and live your dreams.”
When I told my mom about the publishing contract and the kind sponsorship of Suzanne on my publishing project; she marveled and decided to thank Suzanne.

“Kingsley is like a son to me and I am happy to see him succeed,” she told my mom.

Suzanne gave me a platform to be seen, heard, healed me, and set me on a positive life momentum. I truly cannot thank her enough!! Her type is rare! I believe that if every human has the heart of Suzanne, the world will be a better place.

About My Book (Cindy and Her Beautiful Bird)

My debut book is a children’s book titled Cindy and Her Beautiful Bird. But I write in all genres. I decided to write this book for the beautiful children out there. I love children; hence I purposely wrote this book for the children out there in the world! As a matter of fact, adult and parents can learn something too from Cindy and Her Beautiful Bird.

Cindy and Her Beautiful Bird is an exquisite book about Cindy and her loving moments with Amy, her pet bird. This is a story of the intimacy and challenges of a little girl called Cindy and her beautiful songbird, Amy.

Cindy’s bird, Amy, affected her positively. It shows how children can be attached with pets once a cordial relationship has been formed. In this story, Cindy showed us that children can have unwavering faith, even if it seemed goofy, unrealistic, and an illusion! Despite all odds about the whereabouts of Cindy’s bird, she kept believing and having faith.

I love children and I believe they are our hope for a better tomorrow, take good care of them and bring them up in the way they should go.

Kingsley Osajie

Children are like wet floors, anything that falls on them leaves an imprint.

Kingsley Osajie

Every child on earth will love to be a superstar, every boy and girl will love to make it big…hold on to your dreams.

Brenda Fassie

I believe the children are our future, teach them well and let them lead the way; show them all the beauty they possess inside.

Whitney Houston

“I created a girl child Cindy—who had a beautiful bird called Amy and a brother whose name is Quimby. Cindy, a tender jolly girl whose unquenchable faith in the loss of her bird is remarkable and the relationship between Cindy and her bird is truly refreshing. Cindy and Quimby are my brainchildren. Yes, I love children.”

Nomination of Cindy And Her Beautiful Bird For 2020 Readers’ Choice Award

In 2020, Cindy and Her Beautiful Bird was officially “born.” It was no longer a manuscript; it became a published book. I felt happy seeing it published and holding it as a published book. Now, let me share with you how the nomination for the Readers’ Choice Awards began. Cindy and Her Beautiful Bird was nominated for the 2020 Readers’ Choice Awards by TCK Publishing.

When I began writing Cindy and Her Beautiful Bird I did not set the intention for it to be nominated for the Readers’ Choice Awards. But even as it is nominated it does not make me feel proud. After all, it is just a nomination.

In 2011; I published my first book. On my way home from my publishers’ house I was in the car; I picked a newspaper to read and the next thing I saw on the second page was the news of 25 years old Serbian girl who won the Orange Prize for Fiction. Her name is Tea Obreht and the title of her book is Tiger’s Wife. I looked at Tea Obreht holding her Orange Prize Award and I marveled. On top of that, she was going home with £30,000! That was something illustrious, enviable, laudable and highly remarkable!!!!

The Universe and the Cosmic Forces are always listening to us. This life is really wonder-full…so on this very fateful day; I was reading about this American singer Chanté Moore. After reading through her Wikipedia I noticed that she had more nominations than ACTUAL Awards.

I was like, “Damn! Please! Don’t give me any nominations! To hell with nominations! In fact, I refuse to have nominations. What would I want with nominations? Give me the award. Not nominations.” This was how I said it sarcastically; I was just saying it after reading her Wikipedia. So I continued to make these comments sarcastically. I never knew that what I was refusing would come to me.

After making those sarcastic comments about the nominations of Chante Moore songs; I went about my day’s activities. About three weeks my book was nominated for Readers Choice Awards by TCK Publishing.

When I read the congratulatory message from TCK Publishing I was dumbfounded. I could not cry and I could not laugh. It was a total dumfounding! At that moment everything I said about Chante Moore nominations started resurfacing. If it was to be a movie; I would see the flashback…and I had a flashback in my own case. I felt so TIRED! Because I did not expect it and the nomination I rejected sarcastically came to me. So it is really a lesson for me!!!

There are lots of moral lessons for children to learn from in Cindy and Her Beautiful Bird. It can be used as a bedtime story for children and it is very ideal for a children’s cartoon movie. I can assure you that every child out there will certainly enjoy reading it.

Reviews for Cindy And Her Beautiful Bird

“My son and I read this book. As we read it, he really enjoyed the imagery. He tried to guess what was next, enjoying the surprise as well as how happy the bird made her. From my point of view, it was charming to read about her story. It’s refreshing to encompass the child’s nature so accurately. My son was just as charmed as I was at the cute story and the descriptions were vivid. Wonderful read! I look forward to reading more by this author!”

Camille De Mott, USA

“This book is a really great book for children. Unlike other books which show us the children happy and playful. It showed that Cindy had an unwavering faith in the quest to find her little bird who went missing. It’s easy to read and short. It was a wonderful read.”  Yinka Odufote, Nigeria

“The love for pets.”

“Cindy and her beautiful bird” is certainly a book to remember. It emulates and emphasizes the relationship and connection that can be established between children and pets.” Mariam Owoade, Nigeria

“This story is perfect for younger kids. I read this to my younger brother (6 years old), and he really enjoyed following the story of Cindy. From the perspective of an older reader, the book also had the magical feeling of childhood to it. Cindy’s love for the bird was really enjoyable to read about, and I felt like it taught a valuable lesson for kids. Cindy’s faith in the bird was also another lesson that could have been taken from this book. The images in the book were very engaging for my brother, and the colors kept him engaged throughout the story. The story is well worth a read with younger kids for a pastime, and it was written in a way that could it could have also helped children develop better reading capabilities. All in all, I think the story is perfect read for kids, and can teach them the lessons of faith and love.”

Raising Your Vibration With Kwan Yin Mantra

When you hear the statement “raise your vibration” what comes to your mind? What do you understand by this statement “raise your vibration”? It is no longer news that we are living in a Universe where everything is vibrating. Suffice to say that we live in a sea of energy! And everything is energy!

To raise your vibration means to lift up your mood. It can also used to mean to amp-up your mojo. If someone is happy, the person is in a higher vibration. If someone is sad, the person is in a lower vibration. EVERYTHING around us is vibrating at their own frequency!! Even we human beings are vibrating too. Just that these things are too subtle that we can barely notice them. It takes a sharpened intuition and “alignment” to be aware of the vibratory nature of the Universe. That now leads us to the question: what vibrating in? Are you in a lower vibration? Or you are in a higher vibration?

Have you noticed that there are some songs you hear and you cannot help but be happy? Yes, that song has raised your vibration. There are also some songs you hear and you feel sad; that song has lowered your vibration. Have you also noticed the way people feel when they hear a good news? For example, a woman gives birth to a baby safely; everyone leaps for joy and it calls for celebration! That is a higher vibrational experience because it puts everyone in a happy mood and positive momentum. The same thing applies when some gets a job, wins an award, gets a contract, win in a contest, travels abroad etc. On the other hand, when someone is sick, is cheated on have a heartbreak; has an accident, injures you see that the person is not happy. The person’s mood is altered negatively. When you are in a higher vibration, you are LIGHTER but when you are in a lower vibration you are HEAVIER!

Actually, there are MANY ways we can raise our vibrations. We can raise our vibration by doing the following:

1. Spending time in Nature

2. Playing and listening to uplifting music

3. Reading good books

4. Reading success stories

5. Eating healthy and organic food

6. Showing gratitude (a grateful mind is a magnet for miracles)

7. Keeping good friends

8. Playing Mantra

9. Meditation

As a person who is mantra minded, I decided to talk about Kwan Yin mantra. Now, I understand that not everyone is familiar with mantra.  Someone might say, “I am not your typical Om chanting buddy.” But if you explore the subject of mantra I am sure you will love it. I began exploring the subject of mantra in 2017 when I was in the early stages of my Spiritual Awakening. There are many mantras; but I am talking about Kwan Yin mantra.

I am sure you might be wondering, what is Kwan Yin or who Kwan Yin is. Kwan Yin is a Bodhisattva; an Ascended Master. You can refer to her as Lady Master Kwan Yin. Kwan Yin is WELL KNOWN as the Goddess of Compassion. I have also written an article about Kwan Yin in my previous post so that will give you a detailed knowledge about Kwan Yin.

(Kwan Yin: Google Images)

First of all, what is mantra? Mantra is the bridge over which we pass from the natural to the spiritual order of things. The word itself originated from the Sanskrit language. In the words of Kalu Rinpoche, mantra is enlightened sound, the speech of the Bhodisattva of Compassion. The Kwan Yin mantra is Om Mani Padme Hum, which means “Hail to the jewel in the lotus flower.” Other than the “Om”, probably the most popular mantra of the East is “Om Mani Padme Hum.” (“Om Mani Peme Hung in Tibetan). This is the six syllabled mantra honors and invokes Avalokitesvara, (Chenrezig in Tibetan) the Bodhisattva of Compassion. Avalokitesvara is gifted with complete enlightenment and said to reject no plea made to him by individuals in distress.

Om Mantra Symbol

“Om Mani Padme Hum” has always been one of my favorites. This mantra has the capacity to put in a softer ambience with a great serenity. As it is very TRANQUIL and SUBLIME; even if you are not familiar with mantra; why do not you give this one a try and see for yourself.

The meaning of this mantra is often translated as “The jewel in the center of the lotus”. “Om Mani Padme Hum”, is a mantra that is used for protection, healing and many other positive attributes including communication with higher realms of consciousness. But most powerfully, it is a mantra used to generate compassion. And indeed, when people chant or listen to this mantra, they seem to have the element of compassion manifest within them. I like this. I think the world needs compassion. A whole lot more compassion.I discovered this mantra in 2018 when I was reading my FAVOURITE book (An Awakening: Mapping Your Dream Volume I by Suzanne Hosang. It talked about Kwan Yin in it; so I looked up the name Kwan Yin BECAUSE I had come across Kwan Yin in a book published by the Jehovah’s Witness when I used to be a member of the Jehovah’s Witness.

Kwan Yin seated on a Lotus Flower

In the process of reading about Kwan Yin; I came across Kwan Yin mantra. I was moved and inspired by the Om Mani Padme Hum mantra so I decided to check it out on YouTube. After streaming it for the first time, I told myself again. I played it again. After playing it for the second time; I was like again! Then I played it for the second time. It SO put me in MINDFULNESS and HIGHER VIBRATIONS throughout my time on the PC. Even as I type this blogpost I am still playing it. There after I began playing it often. I studied it and learnt the correct pronunciation. If you want to bring in more compassion, joy and mindfulness I encourage you to incorporate the Kwan Yin mantra into your ritual. YOU V GOT THIS!

I wrap up this post by leaving you with the words of Kwan Yin to ponder on:

Words of Kwan Yin

“Here are my sacred instructions: First, have mercy upon yourselves. You have endured much in your land, and you have eons of lessons yet before you. Only through a gentle touch is Nirvana revealed. Stretch and reach for greatness, but always with a gentle approach. Seek not opportunities, but allow them, to gently come to you as a lotus flower floats upon the currents of water amidst a gentle breeze. Strive, but not with hurry—enjoy the process upon which you embark. Know that each step along the way is akin to a party—a celebration of movement, which is itself a miracle.

“Appreciate the godliness within yourself, within each of you. Do not chide yourself for your errors and mistakes, but laugh, grow, and learn from them instead. You, my gentle child, are doing just fine—in fact, very well indeed.

“If I were to give you any word of wisdom, it would be the word that best embodies love upon this Earth plane to me: compassion. Growing past all shame and embarrassment, and moving toward appreciation, not just for the ‘good’ parts of yourself and others, but for all along the way—it’s all good, believe me. And if you can know that as the eternal truth sooner rather than later, your happiness will come galloping toward you at the speed of mustangs with winged hooves. Believe that as the truth. Now.

“Wisdom comes from sitting still and listening, not from rushing to get ahead. A still heart receives love and information more readily than one that is harried. Do something simple today: Pick a flower and simply study it with no intent. Be blank. Be open. And know that whatever comes to you is good, and a lesson in the making—always and forever.”

Until next time, I say embrace COMPASSION. Take care of your energy and vibrations
